Privacy Policy

The short version

Your footage never leaves your machine. We collect an email address if you give us one, and anonymous page analytics with no cookies. That is close to the whole story; the rest of this page is the detail.

Who we are

Recap Trading LLC operates the website at recap.trade and publishes the Recap desktop application. For questions about this policy, contact [email protected].

What the website collects

Analytics. We use Ahrefs Web Analytics, which is cookieless. It records aggregate page views and referrers. It does not set a cookie, does not fingerprint you, and does not follow you to other websites. Because it sets no cookie, there is no consent banner.

Your email address, if you give us one. Three forms on this site can collect one:

  • The free-trial form, which starts your trial on the email address you enter. It also runs a Cloudflare Turnstile check and records your IP address to limit repeated attempts.
  • The launch notification list, which we use to tell you when Recap reaches general availability.
  • Sign-in, which uses your email address to send a sign-in code or to complete Google sign-in.

We use those addresses only for the purpose you submitted them for. We do not sell them, rent them, or share them with advertisers.

Sign-in session data. Authentication is handled by Supabase. When you sign in, a session token is stored in your browser so you stay signed in. Clearing your browser storage signs you out.

Server logs. Our web server records ordinary request logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

What the application collects

Your footage, clips, trade data and journal entries stay on your computer. There is no cloud upload of any of them. We cannot see them.

Three things can leave your machine, all listed under Settings → Diagnostics & usage data, and none of them include your footage:

  • Usage data — on by default and switchable off at any time. Anonymous signals about how the app is used. It never includes trading data: no symbols, no prices, no P&L, no account numbers, no journal entries.
  • Crash reports — after a crash, Recap asks before sending a report unless you have opted in to automatic sending. Your Windows username is removed.
  • Logs you choose to send — the Send logs button uploads roughly 14 days of logs, a crash dump if one exists, and system information. A confirmation lists exactly what is included, window titles and file paths among it, before anything is sent.

Licensing. When licensing is active, your licence key and a device identifier are checked against our licensing provider to enforce the seat limit.

Processors we use

We share the minimum necessary with a small number of service providers, each of which processes data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — authentication and the launch notification list.
  • Ahrefs — cookieless website analytics.
  • Cloudflare — network delivery and protection for this website.
  • Keygen — licence validation, when licensing is active.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal information on the basis of your consent, the performance of our agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Service.

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw your consent, by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You may also opt out of usage data at any time in Settings → Diagnostics & usage data, and unsubscribe from any email we send using the link in that email.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Retention

We keep email addresses for as long as your account or list subscription is active, and server logs for a short operational period. Application logs live on your own machine and rotate after roughly 14 days.

Children

Recap is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their jurisdiction.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
