Recap Documentation

Recap is a Windows desktop app that continuously records your screens while you trade and automatically turns each completed trade into its own short, labeled video clip — so you can review your day as a searchable library instead of scrubbing hours of raw footage.

Before you install, the Known limitations page spells out what Recap doesn’t do.

Learn the model

  • Core concepts — fills, round‑trip trades, clips, feeds, moment tags, markers, retention.
  • The Recap window — the five tabs and the Review screen.

Step-by-step guides

The Guides section walks through recording your screens, connecting your platform, working the library, reviewing a trade (synced replay, your stats against your averages, notes and mood), markers and the timeline, tags, settings, and updates.

Look something up

The Reference section covers keyboard shortcuts, where Recap keeps your files on disk, and every setting.

Platforms and comparisons

  • Platforms — NinjaTrader, Tradovate, Sierra Chart, MotiveWave, Quantower and ATAS X, each with setup, honest notes and FAQ.
  • Trading journals compared — where Recap fits next to the stats journals.
