Keep Recap updated

Recap checks for updates automatically — at launch, periodically through the day, and when you return to the window. When a new version is available, an Update button appears in the top bar (and on the sign‑in screen). Click it to download, install, and relaunch.

Every update is signed and its signature is checked before it installs, so Recap only ever installs a build that came from us. The install shows a progress bar and doesn’t ask you any questions along the way.

If you’re recording, the update waits. Recap won’t install mid-session — finish recording, then install, so your tape isn’t cut off. When an update does restart the app, any in-flight recording is finalized first; no footage is lost.

What’s New after an update

The first time Recap opens after an update that adds something worth announcing, a What’s New dialog lists the new features — including anything you gained from versions you skipped, so a jump across several releases still shows the full picture. Dismiss it with Nice, Esc, or a click outside; it won’t reappear for those versions.

Not every update announces itself: small fixes install silently, and a fresh install never shows the dialog — you already have everything. You can reread the notes anytime via Settings → What’s New → View release notes.
