Settings

Open Settings. You can edit:

• Clip bounds — lead‑in seconds, lead‑out seconds, and max clip length. Changes apply to the next trade.

• Retention — keep‑days and size‑cap (GB) for raw footage. Applies on the next hourly retention tick.

• Startup — auto‑resume last session’s sources; auto‑reconnect (re‑hook) dropped windows.

• Markers — the global Marker hotkey that drops a marker while recording (default Ctrl+Shift+T). It works even when Recap is in the background, so pick something your platform doesn’t already use. Click the combo and press a new one to rebind — it needs Ctrl, Alt, or Shift (or a bare function key like F8), so a plain letter can’t swallow your typing system‑wide. Press Esc to cancel, or click Clear to disable the hotkey entirely (the ⚑ Drop Marker button keeps working). If the combo you pick is already held by another app, Recap tells you right there and keeps your previous binding.

• Favorites — edit the friendly label and (for windows) the title keyword used to re‑identify them.

• Storage locations — choose folders for raw footage and final clips (native folder picker); each shows its current disk usage. The app‑data folder (database) is fixed. Restart Recap to apply a storage change.

• Trading accounts — nickname every trading account Recap has recorded a real trade on (an account shows up here after its first trade). Type a name and click away — or press Enter — to save it; clear the field the same way to delete the nickname and fall back to the raw account id. A nickname only changes how the account is displayed, in the Library’s account filter and column and in the Review screen’s Tale of the Tape — never how a trade is matched or stored — and you can rename or clear it at any time. Each account also takes tags — free‑form labels like Lucid Trading or Funded that group accounts across prop firms and eval/funded status. Type in Add tag and press Enter (or a comma) to add one; suggestions offer every tag you already use, so funded and Funded stay one tag. Click a chip’s × to remove it. Tags power the Library’s Account tags… filter and, like nicknames, never change how trades are stored. (These are not the trade tags you put on individual trades — account tags label the account itself.) (And not the same as Account below — that’s your Recap sign‑in, not a trading account.)

• Hide account numbers — for screenshots and streams. Tick the checkbox here (or click the eye icon in the top bar — the fast “click, screenshot, click back” path) and Recap stops showing your real broker account ids in the Library (the account column and filter) and the Review screen (the account chip and the Tale of the Tape baseline). The eye lights up while masking is on, so you can tell at a glance — and it stays on across restarts, which is exactly why the lit eye matters: it’s your reminder that masking is still active. Pick how much to hide:

  • Hide everything — every account shows as Account 1, Account 2, and so on.
  • Show nicknames, hide account numbers — an account you’ve nicknamed keeps its nickname; one you haven’t shows as Account N.

  The number is positional — Account 2 means “the second account in your sorted list,” never a digit of the real id — so adding a new account can renumber the others. The account filter keeps working while masked: it still filters by the real account, it just displays the masked name, so you can screenshot a filtered view without unmasking. This Trading accounts list always shows your real ids, even while masking is on — that’s deliberate, so you can still match ids to nicknames here. (One thing to watch in “Show nicknames” mode: if a nickname itself contains the account number — e.g. nicknaming APEX-38229-16 “Apex 38229” — Recap shows the nickname you chose as-is. Pick a nickname that doesn’t embed the number if that matters to you.) (Account tags are never masked either — if a tag contains the account number, it will show in the Library toolbar even while masking is on. Pick a tag name that doesn’t embed the number if you plan to screenshot your trades.)

• Appearance — pick a theme (13 packs, 9 dark / 4 light; applied instantly, remembered locally).

• Library — Show a “New” badge on unwatched trades (on by default). Turning it off hides both the New badge and the Unwatched only filter in the Library; Recap keeps recording which clips you’ve played either way, so switching it back on picks up where you left off.

• Suggest a feature — send an idea straight to the team: pick a category (Recording, Review, UI, Other), describe it, hit Send suggestion. Real features have shipped from this box.

• What’s New — View release notes reopens the release‑notes dialog Recap shows after a feature update, with the notes for every past release in one place.

• Diagnostics & usage data — control what leaves your machine (your footage never does):

  • Share usage data — anonymous usage signals that help improve Recap; never includes symbols, prices, P&L, account numbers, or journal entries. On by default; switch it off any time.
  • Always send crash reports automatically — off by default; otherwise Recap asks after a crash.
  • Send logs — if support asks, one button sends ~14 days of logs and system info. A confirmation shows exactly what’s included before anything is sent. Your install ID is shown here too.

• Account — sign out.

Validation

If saving fails with “Check the values — clip length must be at least 1s, others 0 or more.”, set Max clip length to at least 1 second and make sure no numeric field is negative.
