Review a trade

Click a ready trade in the Library to open the Review screen — Recap’s film room. It has three parts:

Tale of the Tape (top) — this trade’s numbers, face to face with your own averages.
The replay deck (left) — every screen you recorded for the trade, played back in sync.
The notes panel (right) — pinned moments, written notes, and a mood rating.

Step through trades without leaving the room

The far right of the top banner shows where you are in your Library — 2 of 167 — with ‹ / › arrows to jump straight to the previous or next trade. Ctrl+← / Ctrl+→ do the same from the keyboard (bare ← / → still skip 5 seconds in the replay).

The order — and the count — is your Library’s current filter and sort, counting only trades with a ready clip. So filter the Library down to the trades you want to study, open the first one, and arrow through the whole set without ever going back to the table. An arrow goes dim when you’ve reached either end of the list.

Tale of the Tape

The banner across the top shows the trade at a glance — instrument, direction, the account it traded on (skipped for a clip cut from a marker, which isn’t tied to one), result in points, when it happened, how long you held, and how many feeds were recorded — then puts this trade up against your own baseline:

Stat	What it shows
Size	Your peak position size on this trade.
Hold	How long you were in the trade.
Peak · MFE	The most the trade moved in your favor, in points.
Heat · MAE	The most the trade moved against you, in points.
Points	What the trade actually made or lost, in points.
Result	Win, Loss, or Scratch — with your win rate in that instrument on the “vs” line.

Under each number is a “vs” line — your average for that instrument on that trade’s own account, built automatically from your own trading history. The card’s header spells out exactly what you’re being measured against — “vs your NQ baseline on Funded 50k” — using the account’s nickname if you’ve set one in Settings ▸ Trading accounts, or its raw account id otherwise. A clip cut from a marker isn’t tied to any account, so its baseline (and header) drop the “on…” part entirely. When a stat lands far outside your norm (sizing up hard, or taking far more heat than usual), Recap highlights it so the outlier jumps out.

With Hide account numbers on (Settings ▸ Trading accounts, or the eye icon in the top bar), the account chip on the identity strip and this baseline header show a nickname or a masked Account N instead of the real id — same rule as the Library.

A couple of things you may see instead of numbers:

“not recorded” on Peak/Heat — nothing tracked how far this trade ran. Usually that means your trading platform doesn’t report it at all — or, for Tradovate, that the account has no market‑data subscription; the Integrations card names that as the reason when it’s missing. On Sierra Chart it can also mean the position was already open before Recap’s study started watching it — restart the study while you’re flat and the next trade records normally. Either way it’s not an error, and the rest of the trade’s stats are unaffected.
Peak/Heat numbers that look lower than you’d expect, rather than missing — Recap started watching a hold already in progress (a chart study opened mid‑position, or you started recording after you were already in the trade on Tradovate), or, on Tradovate, market data lapsed for part of the hold. Those numbers are a floor on the true move, not the whole of it — deliberately conservative, not wrong.
A dash on a “vs” line — you don’t have enough history in that instrument for an average. It fills in as you trade.

Your mood rating isn’t repeated here — it lives once, in the Breakdown card just below in the same column.

The replay deck

If you recorded several screens, the deck lays out one video tile per feed and plays them all in sync from a single set of controls. Each tile is labeled with its source — or the nickname you gave it on the Record tab.

Feeds appear in the order you arranged them — so Feed 1 is the same source here as it is on the Record tab, whether that’s a monitor or a captured window. By default monitors come first, left to right as they sit on your desk, then your windows.

You can rearrange them from here. The playback bar lists every feed in this recording as a ⠿ Feed N chip; drag one and drop it where you want, or drag a tile itself by the ⠿ Feed N badge in its top-right corner. The new arrangement is your feed order everywhere — every other trade, new recordings, and the Timeline’s coverage tracks — because where your DOM belongs on screen is a preference, not something that changes trade by trade. Automatic order puts it back.

A feed you can’t move says why in its tooltip: a screen that is not connected right now has no identity Recap can save a position against, and footage recorded before Recap learned to identify windows can only be placed if you gave that window a nickname.

Play/pause and Restart drive every tile together, and playback runs for the length of the longest clip, so nothing is cut short.
Playback speed — 0.5×, 1×, 2×, 3×, or 4×.
Jump to entry / Jump to exit — the two transport buttons next to Play (or E / X from the keyboard) skip straight to 3 seconds before your trade’s entry or exit, so you don’t have to hunt for it on the scrubber. They’re grayed out on clips recorded before Recap started anchoring footage to trade timestamps — there’s no moment to jump to yet, and the tooltip says so. They also gray out briefly while a clip’s video metadata is still loading, and stay grayed out if every feed failed to load; in those cases the tooltip reads Jump unavailable.
Feed picker — with multiple feeds, use All or a numbered button to focus one feed full-width. Switching back and forth never loses your place.
Zoom & pan any feed — scroll to zoom (up to 8×, anchored at your cursor), drag to pan, double-click to reset; a badge shows the current zoom. Recap remembers your framing per source, so frame your DOM once and every future replay opens the same way.
Scrubber — click or drag anywhere to seek all feeds at once.
Keyboard — Space plays/pauses, ← / → skip 5 seconds, and E / X jump to entry / exit, so a review pass keeps your hands off the mouse. See Keyboard shortcuts.
If one clip file is missing or unreadable, that tile says so — and the healthy feeds keep playing.
The first time you press play, this trade’s New badge in the Library clears — reviewing a trade is what marks it reviewed.

Audio tracks

If the trade was recorded with audio, the deck shows a control per track — Desktop audio and Mic — each with its own mute toggle and volume slider. The tracks play in sync with the video (and follow the playback speed).

Volume is a playback preference: set your desktop/mic balance once and every replay uses it.
Mute does more: it also decides what goes into shared clip files. Un‑muted tracks are baked into the video files of every trade cut from then on — mute a track and future clips leave it out. (Already-cut clips keep the audio they were cut with.)

The trade lane

Under the scrubber, a Trade lane maps your trade onto the replay: IN and OUT mark your entry and exit, and — when your platform provides it — peak and heat markers show exactly when the trade’s best and worst moments happened, so you can scrub straight to them.

Tag Trade — apply your tags right from the deck (and filter the Library by them later).
⚑ Tag moment — pin a specific instant inside the replay. Press it, type what happened (“chased the break”, “should have exited here”), and Pin it. Pins appear on the scrubber — click one any time to jump straight back to that moment.
Share Clip — opens the folder containing this trade’s video with the file already selected, ready to drag into Discord, X, or a message to your coach. Clips are ordinary .mp4 files. (If you’ve soloed a feed, that feed’s file is the one selected.) Recorded audio rides along: the file carries one audio track with every un‑muted track mixed in — so alerts and narration are audible wherever you share it, in any player.

The notes panel

The right-hand panel is the trade’s journal. Everything autosaves — text saves when you click away from a field, the mood rating saves instantly, and a “Saved” check confirms it. There’s no save button to forget.

The Breakdown — a free-form General Assessment (“What actually happened on this trade?”) plus the mood rating: five faces, saddest to happiest. It’s how the trade felt, not how it paid. Click a face to rate the trade; click the same face again to clear it.
Moment Tags — every pinned moment with its timestamp. Click one to jump the replay there; × deletes it.
Reflect — four fixed topics, each opening with a question to get you started: Entry & Exit, Emotions, Process vs. Outcome, and Learning. Pick a topic and write; each topic keeps its own notes.

Want the whole width for the video? Hide collapses the notes panel to a thin rail — click Notes to bring it back. Recap remembers your choice.

Recap plays clips from the folder set in Settings. If you move clips elsewhere, they won’t play — keep them in their configured location.
