MotiveWave + Recap · Windows 10/11
A strategy that puts every MotiveWave trade on film.
MotiveWave’s replay re-runs the market. It can’t re-run you. Recap records your actual workspace, charts, DOM, order panels, every monitor you choose, and the connector tells it when you entered and exited. Go flat, and Recap can place a labeled clip in your Library seconds later without a separate clip hotkey.
Install once. Automatic after that.
Install the connector
In Recap’s Integrations tab, click Download & Install on the MotiveWave card. Recap copies RecapSidecar.jar into your MotiveWave Extensions folder for you. Or get it from the download page and copy it in yourself. Works with MotiveWave 6 and 7.
Add it to your charts
Restart MotiveWave, then on each chart whose fills you want captured, add the Recap strategy from Strategy → All Strategies. It runs silently in the background: no Long, Short or Enter buttons, because it never places trades.
That’s the whole workflow
When a position goes flat, a labeled clip appears in your Library within a few seconds. Try a few round trips in MotiveWave’s simulated trading first and watch the clips land.
Start Recap first, then MotiveWave, and leave it running while you trade. Fills are handed off locally on your own machine — nothing leaves your computer. Full steps live in Getting trades in.
It needs the Professional or Ultimate edition.
The connector is a MotiveWave strategy, and here is what that means for your edition, up front rather than in the fine print.
Recap never claims footage it didn’t capture — a known gap gets named, not hidden.
MotiveWave specifics.
Which MotiveWave versions are supported?
MotiveWave 6 and 7, Professional or Ultimate edition, on Windows 10/11. There is no Mac version of Recap.
Does my footage or trade data go anywhere?
No. The connector hands your trades to Recap on your own machine, and your footage and clips stay on your disk. No cloud, no uploads. Recap has no way to place orders on any account.
Why a strategy and not a study?
Only strategies receive fill events in MotiveWave. The Recap strategy uses that to know when you entered and exited, and nothing else. It has no order logic and shows no trading buttons.
What about MotiveWave’s own replay mode?
Replay re-runs market data through the platform. It shows what the market did, not what you did. Recap captures what actually happened on your screens while you traded, one labeled clip per trade.
